Magistrate Chiu Ching-chun visits Japan for the establishment of Japan-Taiwan Friendship AssociationTo promote economic, trade and cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Japan, Hsinchu County Magistrate Chiu Ching-chun and Hsinchu County Council Speaker Zhang Zhen-rong led a delegation to Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan on September 27th. The delegation attended a conference celebrating the establishment of Japan-Taiwan Friendship Association in Miyakonojo City. During the trip, they also visited Wood Utilization Research Center, Miyakonojo Higashi High School, Recycling Center and Takasaki Factory, a meat processing factory. Magistrate Chiu hoped to learn from Japan’s experience in circular economy and apply it to the industrial development of Hsinchu County.


The delegation, mainly composed of representatives from relevant industries in Hsinchu County, exchanged ideas regarding agriculture and animal husbandry, tourism, tea culture, wood processing, education and operation of international organizations with its Japanese counterpart. By absorbing new thinking about company operation, brand building, resource recycling and added value creating, Hsinchu County Government attempts to start a new chapter for local industries. Miyazaki Prefecture Governor Kono Shunji and Miyazaki Prefectural Assembly Speaker Hoshihara Toru greeted the Taiwanese delegation with great joy and attention.


Hsinchu County and Miyazaki Prefecture have signed an exchange agreement this February, with great dedication to cooperation and exchanges of culture, art, tourism, industry, education, sports and agriculture. Governor Kono Shunji said with gratitude that Miyazaki Beef, Japan’s No.1 Wagyu, has recently been introduced to Taiwan; moreover, Miyazaki is visited by many Taiwanese tourists every year. The two sides have a stronger tie and enjoy mutual benefits.


Magistrate Chiu mentioned that Speaker Hoshihara Toru had led Miyazaki Junior Baseball Team to Hsinchu County for six years in a row, which cemented their friendship. He sincerely invited the delegation from Miyazaki Prefecture and all Japanese people to Hsinchu County to experience its natural beauty and culture, including Taiwan Comics Dream Park, Hakka Romantic Avenue, well-preserved historic buildings and old streets.
