Inaugurated on November 26th with great traditional Chinese music, Old Building Fashion Week is being held on Zhongsheng Road in Guanxi Township until December 4th. The venue is famous for its old buildings, old streets, and historic sites. The Hsinchu County government cooperates with local old stores that sell creative products. By combining the features of those stores with the market carnival, they hope to put the shortest and narrowest Zhongzheng Road in Taiwan under the spotlight.
In addition to the traditional Chinese music, there was a Hakka cabezudos drama organized by Niulan River Theater(牛欄河劇團). The theater presented the story of the shortest and narrowest Zhongzheng Road in Taiwan over the last century. In the afternoon, there were also performances by award-winning Hakka singers as well as a bubble kaleidoscope show that was enjoyed by all the visitors, young and old. The opening of Old Building Fashion Week「老屋時尚週」 attracted a large number of people.
The market held on November 27th brought together various daily commodities, creative products and local foods. Some performances that involve family interactions also took place on the main stage, including a balloon musical and a happy magic house show. The event is creating a whole new look for the old street. From November 28th to December 2nd, there will be guide tours and various activities available to participate in along the street. Moreover, various concerts will be held on December 3rd to December 4th.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau of Hsinchu County Government said that Guanxi is a small town that exudes human warmth, and Zhongzheng Road still retains many old buildings. Through the support of the Ministry of Culture and continued promotion by the county government in recent years, the aim has been to transform Guanxi into an art township. To be brief, it is really worthwhile for people to explore the charms of Guanxi Township.
