Hsinchu County ranking 1st in Quality of Life and Modernization Index in Taiwan: Overall Competitiveness Survey of 19 Counties and Cities by Global Views MonthlyThe Global Views Monthly conducted the Overall Competitiveness Survey of 19 Counties and Cities based on 9 major perspectives─Economy & Employment, Education & Culture, Environmental Protection & Quality of Environment, Public Security, Public Safety & Fire Control, Medical Care & Sanitation, Quality of Life & Modernization, Local Finance, and Social Welfare, and the result shows that Hsinchu County ranks 3rd among 14 non-municipal counties and cities and places 6th in Taiwan. Hsinchu County even outperforms some special municipalities in the survey. According to the survey, the County ranks 1st in the Quality of Life and Modernization Index, with the number of cars owned per 100 households and homeownership rate scoring the highest among all counties and cities in Taiwan, including 5 special municipalities and other counties and cities. 
 
Hsinchu County tops all counties and cities in Taiwan in the Quality of Life and Modernization Index, an index primarily based on the evaluations of the areas of parks, green space, children’s playground, sports venues and squares, accessibility to tap water supply, cell phones, Internet access and Mobile Internet Device, system of cable TV program, and number of cars owned, and the result indicates how the County residents respond to the County’s high-quality living environment. In addition, in two indexes “Economy & Evaluation” and “Education & Culture,” Hsinchu County seizes 2nd among 14 counties and cities, which embodies the County government’s active effort to promote investment and to sink a large sum of money and resources in education in recent years. Other indexes such as Environmental Protection & Quality of Environment, Public Safety & Fire Control, Medical Care & Sanitation, Local Finance and Social Welfare have also seen improvements in recent years.
 
Learning this good news, Magistrate Chiu expressed his gratitude for the support from County residents, Hsinchu County Council and friends from all fields. Chiu added that the County government will make continuing effort to listen to the general will and to work with all County residents to shape the County into an age-friendly, livable and happy city.
