To improve Hsinchu County’s investment environment, the County government launched the single-window service center for investment promotion, and has been pulling out all the stops to integrate the industry cluster of Hsinchu Science Park and Hsinchu Industrial Park, thus creating more job opportunities and indirectly boosting the public purchasing power and fertility rate. According to the Ministry of the Finance’s Department of Statistics, the County saw the increase of turnovers of wholesale and retail industries from 1999 to 2013 (NT$ 156.9 billion to 239.3 billion), and their growth rate has reached 52.55 % for the past 5 years (national average: 22.72%), which is the NO.1 in Taiwan. As the Department of Statistics of Ministry of the Interior pointed out, the County’s crude birth rate ranked 2nd from 1999 to 2013, with the County’s number of population growth and its growth rate topping 6,493 people and 12.32% respectively. Above all, the number of newborn babies increased by 5,433 people, with the crude birth rate reaching 10.30%, which indicates that the County has become the main area of population growth.
Hsinchu County’s economic growth can be also attributed to its convenient transport. According to the Department of Statistics of Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the number of passengers in and out of the High Speed Rail’s Hsinchu Station had topped 9 million in 2013, with the average number exceeding 25,000 people per day, and Hsinchu Station also ranks 4th in the total number of passengers among all THSR stations. The statistics shows that the growth rate of passengers in and out of THSR Hsinchu Station rose to 8.68 % and ranked 2nd in 2013. The County government has been engaged in building convenient transport to drive the economic prosperity of local business forward, making Hsinchu County the city with the most potential for development in northern Taiwan. The growth rate indicated that the County’s job and investment environment has been experiencing their improvements, and the County residents have been gaining better purchasing power, Magistrate Chiu Ching-Chun announced. Chiu promised that the County government will continue its all-out effort to shape the County into a first-class and livable city.
