A sign of love and communication: Hsinchu County's Sign Language Interpretation Service Window launches its grand openingTo many people with speech and hearing disorders, the location of Hsinchu County’s Sign Language Interpretation Service Center has still remained unknown and unfamiliar. Consequently, to improve the service quality of sign language interpretation and to stop citizens suffering from traffic, the Hsinchu County Angel Voices Association unveiled the Sign Language Interpretation Service Center (located at No.3, Xianzheng 7th St., Zhubei City) for the County residents’ convenience, and Magistrate Chiu Ching-Chun attended the unveiling ceremony to witness its launch. 



This year’s sign language interpretation training courses will start from April 14, 2014 to November 27, 2014 and will have basic and advanced classes open for citizens interested in learning sign language interpretation. The budget allocated for social weflare by the Hsinchu County government has marked a growth of NT$ 620 million, rising from NT$ 2.3 billion to NT$ 2.92 billion. The Voice Angel Association has been dedicated to offering citizens with speech and hearing disorders the practical aids, including medical treatment, education, social welfare, jurisdiction and social participation, thus facilitating their interpersonal communication. Above all, the interpretation service used on medical treatment has the highest proportion of services─30%, which is followed by the service participation (25%) and judicial lawsuit (24%). It is expected that the extension of sign language interpretation services in the County will provide a more friendly and accessible environment for citizens with speech and hearing disorders. 



To improve the service quality, the application of general cases to sign language interpretation service shall undergo the reservation procedure” 3 days ahead of time” instead of the “5 days” in the past. Emergency or temporary case may receive real-time processing and dispatch service.
