On June 13, Hsinchu County Magistrate Yang Wen-ke led a County Government delegation and several township mayors to the Taipei Representative Office in France. There, they visited with Representative Hao Pei-Chih and engaged in exchanges on topics ranging from science, technology, education, and culture, to local governance. Magistrate Yang expressed hopes that the visit would help promote collaboration between Hsinchu County and local French governments, in order to create more bilateral opportunities for collaboration.

To welcome Magistrate Yang’s arrival, Representative Hao went to the airport on June 12 to meet his plane. At a meeting on the 14th, Magistrate Yang introduced Hsinchu County’s accomplishments and plans in terms of international education, semiconductors, science parks, and sustainable development. He also presented        Every Day a Good Day gift packages from the Hsinchu County Cultural Foundation; replicas of the berets worn by Hsinchu County’s own famous comic artist Liu Hsing-chin; bottles of Meet Angel Golden Tea Scent, which represents the unique fragrances of Hsinchu County; County Art Scarves, created by master Hsinchu County artists; and Oriental Beauty tea gift sets.

Magistrate Yang stated that Hsinchu County is actively promoting international education. The County currently has collaboration projects in countries such as the US, UK, India, and Singapore, and Magistrate Yang expressed hopes for further exchanges with France in the future. Today’s meeting should help to expand substantive collaboration with the French government, especially in terms of talent cultivation, sci-tech applications, and cultural innovation, to explore even more opportunities for exchange.

Representative Hao was quite interested in Magistrate Yang’s gifts. She stated that she is part-Hakka herself, and put on one of the berets that Magistrate Yang presented. Representative Hao stated that there will be more opportunities to collaborate with Hsinchu County in the future. Especially with Hsinchu County’s numerous, famous science parks and industries, the County has clearly had impressive results in implementing sci-tech education.

Representative Hao also stated that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang had recently visited Paris, and that French President Macron had also stated that he hopes France will be able to manufacture chips in the future. This means that if there are increased bilateral sci-tech education exchanges in the future, Representative Hao is confident that it will also be beneficial in France’s development of sci-tech talents.
