Household income and consumer expenditure in Hsinchu County Ranking No. 2 in the country -- Yang Wen-Ke: Work hard to lay the foundation for the future prosperity in industry development

In the 2020 Household Income and Expenditure Survey outcome announced by the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics of the Executive Yuan, Hsinchu County and Hsinchu City ranked second and third respectively in average income per household. Specifically, the average income per household in Hsinchu County was NT$1,619,782; the average disposable income for each household was N$1,294,404; and the consumption expenditure per household was NT$1,036,565. The above three indicators ranked second in the country, second only to Taipei City. Furthermore, the average number of employed persons per household in Hsinchu County was 1.57 persons, ranking first in the country.
Hsinchu County and Hsinchu City are able to achieve this result mainly because the flourishing science and technology industry in the greater Hsinchu area, and the high salary of employees have driven the income of entire households. The prosperity of today's technology industry is in fact built upon the support of forward-looking policies and plans 30 to 40 years ago. Hsinchu County Magistrate Yang Wen-Ke had participated in the creation, development and growth of the Hsinchu Science Park. He pointed out that today, while everyone is envious of the achievements of the Hsinchu Science Park, including its trillion-dollar output value, employment opportunities for more than 150,000 people, and the prosperity and development of its surrounding areas, there is no free lunch in the world. Without the vision of the former President Chiang Ching-kuo and groundwork and cultivation of the central and local governments, the achievements of Hsinchu Science Park today would have been impossible.
To sustain the advantages of the science and technology industry in the greater Hsinchu area, and continue to shine in the future, County Magistrate Yang continues to uphold the decisions and pioneering spirit of the Hsinchu Science Park after taking office. Moreover, adopting the pragmatic attitude of science and technology people, he is striving to ensure a prosperous future for Hsinchu County in the next 30 years. The governance goal of Caring for All Ages is being implemented; the Five Targets of major industrial policies are being achieved one step at a time; and Hsinchu County's semiconductor, ICT and biomedical industries continue to take the leading position. Magistrate Yang Wen-Ke believes that governance must be in line with the public opinion, and constructions and measures that are closely relevant to the livelihood of the people are particularly important. Hence the governing team must always stay grounded, adjust governance, and ensure relevance to the people. Furthermore, the many hidden policies are even more critical. At this stage, the outcome of industrial foundation may not be visible in the near future; however, it is the key to future industrial prosperity.
