This year's Hsinchu Hakka Tung Blossom Festival was grandly inaugurated at Guanxi Township's historic monument, Dong'an Bridge, on April 20. The daytime market held at Dong'an Bridge had attracted crowds of people before the festival was officially unveiled through a series of splendid performances by local singers Mr.One Cajon, Robin Tseng(曾仲瑋), and Caleb Hsiao(蕭迦勒). Other singers, including Miu Chu(朱俐靜), Hsieh Yu-Wei(謝宇威), and Irene Luo(羅美玲), performed one after another and brought the opening ceremony to the climax. Besides, a light and music show brightened the night sky and Niulan River, leaving all visitors in awe.

Magistrate Yang Wen-ke showed that this is the first time Tung Blossom Festival has been held in Guanxi Township. Guanxi is rich in beautiful landscapes. Visitors can look around and see Tung flowers in daytime and enjoy the concert and light show in the evening. Deputy Minister of Hakka Affairs Council Yiong Cong-ziin(楊長鎮) also invited people to take a trip in Guanxi, especially when the Tung flowers are in full bloom.

On April 21, there will be a market at Dong'an Bridge in the morning and a concert featuring local bands in the afternoon. Other Townships, including Hengshan, Hukou, Jianshi, Beipu, Emei, Zhudong, and Xinpu are launching a series of travel itineraries. Tourists can ask for a "Tung Blossom booklet" and collect required stamps by May 18 to attend a lucky draw activity held at New Tile House. Three lucky tourists will be able to win the biggest prize—17,000 dollars' worth of accommodation vouchers provided by Sheraton Hsinchu Hotel. Don't miss this annual festival and the chance to take prizes home.
