Are your Chinese New Year gifts in readiness? Buy oranges in Hsinchu County Hall and get a chance to win airline tickets! As the Chinese New Year approaches, the oranges in Hsinchu County are just in season! The 2018 Hsinchu County Orange and Camellia Exhibition and Sales Activity will be held on February 10th and 11th at the square in front of the Hsinchu County Hall. Hsinchu County Magistrate Chiu Ching-chun encourages people to purchase fresh, healthful and savory oranges produced in Hsinchu County.

Magistrate Chiu says Hsinchu County is blessed with great climate, soil and water quality, so the oranges produced here are of high quality. The juicy, aromatic and sweet flavors in particular make oranges the must-eat fruit in autumn and winter. In Hsinchu County, the land producing oranges amounts to 2,445 hectares with the total production of 46,557 tons. Qionglin, Xinpu, Guanxi, Henshang, Baoshang and Emei are the primary areas of orange production. And the dominant varieties in Hsinchu County are Hai-li Tangor and Tankan.

Director of Agriculture Department Chiu Shih-chang says this year’s Orange and Camellia Exhibition and Sales Activity includes the agricultural product sales, artistic performances, creative cuisine market, children’s park, and camellia art exhibition. Those who purchase the appointed weight of oranges can get free red envelopes or animal-shaped purses, play a claw crane for big prizes and even win round-trip airline tickets to Hong Kong.
