Congrats! 36 couples tie the knot in the Hsinchu County Joint WeddingThe 2017 Hsinchu County Joint Wedding was held at the main hall of Hsinchu County Council on the morning of October 21st. This year, there were 36 couples in total participating in the wedding. Magistrate Chiu Ching-chun’s beloved daughter, Ms. Chiu Cai-ci, also got married to her Mr. Right on the occasion. Witnessed by Magistrte Chiu, Council Speaker Zhang Zhen-rong and all the other guests, those couples went through the ritual with great excitement and blessings.


To create a romantic atmosphere, the wedding started with a dance performance called “Happiness Is Coming.” Then, the grooms and brides shared wine and candy, radiating love and sweetness that made people jealous. More specially, a groom who dressed himself as Kumamon walked down the aisle with the bride hand in hand and stole the show. Some government officers even gave their blessings by presenting the couples with gifts. Magistrate Chiu and his wife also presented small golden shovels, which were received by his daughter and son-in-law on behalf of other couples, as a symbol of giving birth to more children.


Magistrate Chiu stated that Hsinchu County Joint Wedding has been held for 19 years. A total of 686 couples got married with people’s blessings and reached another important milestone in life. Magistrate Chiu not only granted marriage certificates to the couples but also revealed that harmony in a family brings success to everything. He encouraged them to respect, understand, cherish and look after each other after building their families.


In recent years, Hsinchu County Government has been dedicated to creating a livable, prosperous, sporty and intelligent city. Besides, Hsinchu County is currently ranked No.4 in Taiwan in terms of birth rate, with a population of about 551 thousand. The government gets on with the task of taking care of women and children by making multiple policies to encourage pregnancy and relieve financial burdens. In addition, three projects, including “Subsidy for the Newborn (NTD 10 thousand for each baby),” “Parental Subsidy for Parents without a Job” and “Babysitting Subsidy,” have been launched. For the couples who took part in the Joint Wedding, the government also provided premarital courses so that they could have more abilities and knowledge to face their marital life.
