To show support for the “World Car Free Day” and promote “green transport,” Hsinchu County Government, along with Tourism Bureau, MOTC, has launched “Cycle Around Hsinchu County 2017.” A series of cycling activities will be held, including “Conquer Provincial Highway 68” on November 4th and “Light Travel by Bike” on November 5th. The activities are now open for registration until September 30th. Hsinchu County Magistrate Chiu Ching-chun stated that the county government has put great effort into the construction of bikeways for years and has created several high-quality cycling routes. Along the routes, cyclists can not only enjoy breathtaking scenery but also experience aboriginal culture and Hakka charm.
Those who participate in “Conquer Provincial Highway 68” will be allowed to ride their bicycles onto Provincial Highway 68, an elevated expressway, for the first time. Along the 33 km route, participants can seize the rare opportunity to bike freely and overlook the unique landscapes of Hsinchu County. When arriving at the destination—Xinfeng Mangrove Preserve, participants can also have a guided eco-tour around the district.
As to “Light Travel by Bike,” a cycling expert will lead participants to explore Hsinchu County’s tourist spots in depth by bike. Cyclists can choose from the four itineraries designed by the county government, including “Rural Trip in Xinpu,” “Hakka-themed Trip in Beipu and Emei,” “Insightful Trip in Zhubei” and “Cultural Trip in Guanxi.” During the trip, participants will learn proper cycling skills, visit tourist spots and shopping streets, and attend DIY classes. In addition, local snacks, such as dried persimmons, brown sugar steamed buns, and grass jelly flavored mochi will be provided for participants as supplements.
