Hsinchu County Magistrate Chiu Ching-chun said that this year’s festival is hosted by Liujia District in Zhubei, the biggest and most traditional religious district of Xinpu Baozhong Yimin Temple. Yimin Festival was considered to be a Hakka religious event; however, after years of promotion, it has become the focus of different ethnic groups. To show that the Yimin spirit is not exclusive only to Hakka people, guests who are neither Hakka people nor local residents are also invited to join in the celebrations.

On September 9th, the opening day, a crew of charming air hostesses will lead the parade from the Lin Family Temple to Xinpu Baozhong Yimin Temple. At 3 pm, water lanterns will be released. At 5 pm, the Warrior Road Running will kick off. And at 7 pm, many Hakka singers and entertainers will take turns presenting splendid shows and performances at the Hakka Yimin Evening Party. The famous Taiwanese band, Power Station, is also invited to conclude the party with fascinating songs.

Ms. Zhang Yizhen, the Chief of Cultural Affairs Bureau, Hsinchu County Government, stated that Yimin Festival is making innovations unceasingly. The Creative Sacred Pig Coloring Competition has entered its 8th year and received great response. What’s more, the installation art, a five-meter-high giant sacred pig, will make its debut in this year’s festival. Visitors can also join in the game with 15 Yimin-themed missions. Those who complete all the missions can get a limited-edition lucky charm. Come experience Yimin Festival in person!
