Hsinchu County comes out on top in Taiwan for quality of life and modernization from the surveyThe results of 2017 General Competitiveness Survey, carried out by Global Views Monthly, shows that Hsinchu County claims first place for the quality of life and modernization indicator, exclusive of the six municipalities. The indicator is evaluated through 13 items including parks and green spaces, area of children’s playgrounds, popularization of drinking water pipes, cable TV equipment, and so on.

County Magistrate Chiu Ching-chun stated that Hsinchu County has had complete public facilities. Besides, the health industry park, National Taiwan University Hospital Zhubei Branch and Far Eastern New Century Shopping Mall are all under construction. He also said that the county government will keep working hard to improve infrastructure. Although the county’s finances are tight, the local government proactively creates income and looks forward to the projects implemented in Hsinchu County under the central government’s Forward-looking Infrastructure Plan.

Hsinchu County was ranked No.1 for quality of life and modernization in 2014 and 2015, No.2 in 2016, and is top again this year. In terms of the economy and employment indicator, Hsinchu County also performs outstandingly, ranked No.3 of the 19 cities and counties. As for the social welfare indicator, Hsinchu County performs best for providing shelters and day cares for the mentally and physically challenged.
