Hsinchu County’s 2017 New Year flag-raising ceremony was held on the morning of January 1 in front of the County Hall. After the ceremony, the Rooster walk activity has begun and it attracted 1000 people attended, which the goal of activity is to let people start the New Year in a healthy way. Magistrate Chiu Chun-ching said that even though the county government has lacked funds in recent years, it has continued to improve county’s infrastructure. The county government has built or started to build six schools, nine bridges, Zhubei Citizens’ Sports Center and the Ting Ba City Parking Lot since Chiu Chun-ching became Magistrate. The county council speaker Chen said that the county council will continue to cooperate with the county government to build a better living environment in Hsinchu County.
Before the flag-raising ceremony commenced, a creative floral drum group from Erchong Community Development Association in Zhudong Township presented a Hakka drumming performance; this was followed by the Good Harvest Thanksgiving Dance performed by the dance troupe of Shanqi Elementary School which won an excellent award in the county’s school dance competition in 2016. The activities start the New Year with sweet singing and rhythmic drum music
The flag-raising ceremony kicked off at 7 am sharply. The members of the renowned Hsinchu County Atayal chorus Hngyang Na Atayal led the audience in singing the ROC national anthem and flag anthem.
After the flag-raising ceremony, 1000 people warmed up and then took part in the Year of the Rooster Walk. Magistrate Chiu said that he was very happy to see the vitality and health of county citizens attended on the first day of the year and said the county government team will strive to plan a series of sport and LOHAS events in the future in order to build Hsinchu as a healthy community. After all, He wishes everyone has a “Happy New Year.”
