The Cross-strait Exchange Base Plaque Unveiling and the 7th Cross-strait Three Museums Annual Meeting Opening Ceremony was held on September 22 in Shenyang. Led by Magistrate Chiu, a delegation from Zhang Xueliang Cultural Park in Hsinchu County was in attendance, witnessing the historic moment together with Long Mingbiao, deputy director of the PRC Taiwan Affairs Office, and others. Magistrate Chiu invited people from the three northeastern provinces to visit Hsinchu for in-depth travel and to enjoy the four independent travel itineraries.
He said that this year is the 15th anniversary of Zhang Xueliang’s death and the 80th of the Xi’an Incident. At this historic moment, the Former Residence of Zhang Zuolin and Zhang Xueliang has become the first Cross-strait Exchange Base in the three northeastern provinces, meaning that tourism, culture, agriculture, art and technology exchange between the two sides will become closer.
With a donation of 20 million NT dollars from the governor of Liaoning province Chen Zhengao, the two sides of the Taiwan Strait built the Zhang Xueliang Cultural Park. Hsinchu County Government also improved Taoshan Tunnel that leads to the Park, providing funding of 100 million dollars. This year, over 50 million dollars has been provided successively to renovate the main buildings. Magistrate Chiu invited the people of the three northeastern provinces to visit Hsinchu and enjoy the four independent travel itineraries recommended by Hsinchu’s 13 townships/cities: Hakka country tour, Independent Travelers’ Favorite Tour, Railway Trip Tour and Tranquil Qingquan Dream Tour (Zhang Xueliang Cultural Park). He welcomes them to buy some of local specialties like the county’s agricultural products such as rice noodles, xiancao herbal jelly, honey and Oriental Beauty Tea.
