Opening ceremony for Hsinchu County’s first home-visit mobile shower bathTo provide dignified and hygienic showering and bathing services to incapacitated elderly and long-term bedridden disabled people, in cooperation with the Hsinchu Branch of the Red Cross Society of the Republic of China, Hsinchu County Government has won funding from the Taiwan Lottery feedback fund from the Social and Family Affairs Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare for a mobile shower baths. The first home visit mobile shower bath officially took to the road on January 31.

For ordinary people getting washed is easy, but for those bedridden for a long time it is very difficult. Figures show that, of people incapacitated for more than five years in Taiwan, over 30% are only washed by being scrubbed and do not enjoy a bath or shower. As they have been bedridden for a long period their rooms often smell of urine, a situation that is a pity. By offering the home-visit mobile shower bath service it is hoped to give better care quality to incapacitated elderly people.

The mobile shower bath has temperature control, shower nozzle taps, a water tank and portable baths. Full-body baths are provided to people in need at home by a highly skilled team, leaving the elderly clean and comfortable, hygienic and healthy, also reducing the care burden and pressure on family members. A bath takes around one hour each time. .

The home-visit shower truck service is available to all heavily incapacitated elderly people and long term bedridden disabled people who do not have infectious diseases in Hsinchu County.  As single service cost NT$600; medium/low income household people can enjoy 24 free services a year. Ordinary households can enjoy 24 services a year for the preferential rate of NT$300 a time. The service hotline: 03-5557992 ext.8012
