Magistrate Chiu Ching-chun leads a delegation to Singapore to promote Hsinchu County’s  agricultural special productsTo raise the international profile of Hsinchu County, Magistrate Chiu Ching-chun led a delegation comprising of a team from the county government, Wen Bi-cheng, Secretary of the Farmers’ Association of Hsinchu County, and others, to Singapore to market Hsinchu County’s diverse agricultural special products. At the Hsinchu County Government City Marketing and Agricultural Special Product Gift Promotion Press Conference held at The Nanyang Khek Community Guild on August 24, 12 superior gifts from Hsinchu County including tangerines, persimmon cakes, Oriental Beauty Tea and herbal jelly were shared with the people of Singapore.

Taiwan’s official representative to Singapore Jacob Chang (Chang Da-tong) and Yu Pang-chun, Managing Director of Yue Hwa Chinese Products Emporium Limited, and other VIP guests, attended the press conference. Mr. Chang promised to assist the Farmers’ Association of Hsinchu County build marketing channels in Singapore and Yu Pang-chun also pledged to help by setting up special counters in their stores so that more people have the opportunity to buy distinctive Hakka gifts.

Singapore and Taiwan are both Asian tigers, the former has a Chinese population of around 74%, Chinese is one of the official languages and it also has a significant Hakka population, this common blood bond giving Hsinchu County and Singapore an indissoluble relationship. Magistrate Chiu stated that, to awaken the sense of belonging of Hakka people all over the world, the 2015 Taiwan International Festival of Hakka Culture will be held from October 14 to 25, 2015; the 28th World Hakka Conference, International Flower Drum Art Festival and Taiwan Hakka Expo will grandly held at the same time. Magistrate Chiu sincerely invites everyone to visit Hsinchu County to feel the charm and appreciate the splendor of Hakka settlements. The 28th World Hakka Conference has already attracted around 3000 people and 180 Hakka groups from around the world.
