“Baby Boom Township” Zhubei City has the Second Highest Birth Rate in TaiwanAccording to analysis of “Township and city district birth, death, marriage and divorce” data compiled by the Department of Household RegistrationMOI by The News Lens, Zhubei City ranked second of the Top 10 townships and city districts for highest crude birth rate (the number of live births annually per 1000 people) in 2014. Magistrate Chiu Ching-chun stated that statistics speak and show that the complete public construction of Hsinchu County has significantly increased the willingness of young adults to live there. He invited everyone to buy property and settle in Hsinchu County.
According to The News Lens, the main reason for the high birth rate in Zhubei City is its proximity to Hsinchu Science Park, which has a pull-effect, attracting young adults to the city. Analysis of data also shows that the birth rate in eastern Taiwan is higher than western Taiwan; in particular, the triangle of Yilan County, Taoyuan County and Hsinchu County is the area where more babies are born than anywhere else in Taiwan; Hsinchu County’s Wufeng and Jianshi townships have the highest birthrate of any indigenous township in Taiwan, The News Lens coming to the conclusion that members of Taiwan’s indigenous community have a higher willingness to procreate than the rest of the population.
Magistrate Chiu stated that, since taking up office, he has made every effort to improve the investment environment, for example by constructing various public facilities, lowering the crime rate and establishing  the Investment Promotion Single-Window Service Center and also, in coordination with Hsinchu Science Park and industrial park, bringing the cluster effect into play, creating numerous jobs. All these things have indirectly driven increases in citizens’ spending power and the birth rate.
