On June 20th, Hsinchu County held the 2015 Magistrate’s Cup Dragon Boat Race on Chihho Lake in front of Chihho Temple in Xin Feng Township in celebration of Dragon Boat Festival. Over 700 people on 28 teams attended the race. The 28 teams included 16 teams in open category, 4 teams in women’s category, 4 teams in government institutions’ category, and 4 teams in exhibition races. As for the exhibition races, teams were made up of directors from Hsinchu County Government, council members of Hsinchu County Council, Representatives of Xin Feng Township Association of Village Chiefs and managers from Xin Feng Township Office. All the participants pulled the oars with all their efforts and fought for the first place. It attracted a large crowd cheering from the side. The host also invited community dance clubs and cheerleaders clubs to perform and to bring the activity to life. In addition, the Duck Egg Production and Marketing Group of Xin Feng Township Farmers' Association offered limited fried eggs, tea eggs, century eggs and salted duck eggs to visitors for free.
Antonio Gellini, the co-founder of World Film Institute, and Munni Irone, talk show hostess for Munni Irone Show, came for watching the race as well. They were both interested in the different cultures and folk customs. They looked over dragon boats in detail, and also tried paddling a dragon boat. Magistrate Chiu also took them to visit the mangrove forest in Xin Feng and Hutong Sunny Art Museum and met with the local artists. Mr. Gellini and Tichi Wilkerson Kassel had co-founded the World Film Institute in 1996 to honor the outstanding achievement of film maker. Until now, Antonio has hosted over 25 film awards around the world, including the Family Film Awards on CBS and the future Olympia Awards in 2016.
