Number of Tourists Visiting Hsinchu County Hits Record High, Growth Rate of Sales in Lodging and Catering Industries Tops Taiwan
According to the statistics of the number of tourists in Hsinchu County released by Department of Transportation and Tourism of Hsinchu County Government, the number of tourists visiting Hsinchu County in 2014 hit a record high of 8,580,739, grew 43.16% from 5,993,823 in 2009. According to the statistics released by the Department of Statistics, Ministry of Finance, the growth rate of sales in lodging and catering industries in Hsinchu County also surged to 112.75%, from NTD4.759 billion to NTD10.125 billion, topping the country (the average growth rate in Taiwan is 65.49%). “The results showed that the County Government did an excellent job in promoting transportation, tourism, and public construction,” said Yang Wen-Ke, the Secretary General of Hsinchu County Government.
During recent years, the County Government has made a significant achievement in promoting and marketing tourism, raising local production value in the county. The government has also built a tourism network which combines cultural creativity, refined agriculture (agricultural recreation) with tourist attractions. It has successfully attracted tourists to Hsinchu County and brought economic benefits to local businesses.
