The results of 2015 Golden Way Awards are out. According to the assessment by the MOTC (the Ministry of Transportation and Communications), Hsinchu County, for the first time, won the first place in Road Maintenance and Management. Magistrate Chiu was pleased to hear the news and appreciated the efforts put in by county government staffs. He also emphasized that the government would continue to promote the Road-smoothing Project to offer the residents a better living environment.

The County Government is expected to invest NT$139 million in County Road Maintenance and Improvement Project and NT$120 million in the township road maintenance. The county government will continue to promote the Road-smoothing Project and invest a total of NT$300 million in improving roads across 13 counties and townships in Hsinchu County. Apart from these, the extension of the access road to Hsinchu Science Park (Gongdao 5th Rd.) under the bridge of Taiwan High Speed Rail (between Zhubei City and Zhudong Township) is due to open to traffic by the end of May, 2015. In addition, Township Route Zhu-43 in Baoshan and County Highway 115 in Xinpu will undergo road widening.

The Road Assessment Program, commonly known as Golden Way Award, is an annual assessment done by MOTC for road maintenance and improvement in all counties and cities in Taiwan. A team is formed by MOTC every year to assess the condition of roads in each city and county. The results would be used for determining central government‘s subsidies to cities and counties for road maintenance. The assessment process includes written documents and field study. All the hard work by the Hsinchu County Government finally paid off when Hsinchu County won the first place this year. Hsinchu County was in third place last year and fifth in 2013.
