Nakao Keishin, the Minister of Commerce of Industry and Tourism of Obihiro, Hokkaido, came to visit Mayer Chiu Ching-Chun in Hsinchu County Government building to discuss the establishment of sister stations between Hexing Love Station and Hokkaido Kōfuku Station on February 2. Mayor Chiu was hopeful that the partnership between the stations would bring together and foster trading and economic ties as well as cultural exchange.
Minister Nakao also introduced and invited everyone to visit Tokachi in Hokkaido, a place famous for hot spring, food, horse racing, and ski resorts. He indicated that the mayor of Obihiro, Yonezawa, gave a great support for the establishment of sister stations between Hexing Love Station and Hokkaido Obihiro Happiness Station.
The Kōfuku Station in Obihiro, Hokkaido, named after the place it located, is an obsolete train station which terminated its services in 1987. The station has then preserved the old waiting hall, railway platform and railways since; it also displays two historic passenger cars. The station became a tourist destination because of its romantic name, and shops around the station sell commemorative tickets and other souvenirs.
Hexing Station on Neiwan Line was once faced with the same fate of terminating its services as Kōfuku station. Fortunately, Chun-Chao Tseng and his wife, who had a romantic love story there, adopted and preserved the station and this is how the name of Love Station originated. With the help of the Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the station now presents an all-new look after the county government outsourced the operation to Lavender Cottage. It has built several attractions including Love Time Capsule, Love Confession, Love Bell, and Lover Tree. It has become one of the most-visited tourist attractions in Hsinchu County.
