Under the witness of Magistrate Chiu, 2getthere, a Netherland transit system supplier, and Hsinchu Seamless Joint Co., Ltd. (Hsin-Jie) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on January 30th in regard to the realization of the Hsinchu GRT connection. The Hsinchu GRT project is aimed to solve the traffic problem regarding traffic jams on highway exits and around Hsinchu Science and Industrial Park during rush hours. Magistrate Chiu is hopeful that it will reduce the traffic problems.
The MOU was signed by CEO of 2getthere Carel van Helsdingen and CEO of Hsinchu Seamless Joint Co. Jia-Feng Shi. Mr. van Helsdingen indicated that GRT is a light rail transit that is especially suitable for Great Hsinchu Area. Having a top speed of 40km/h, the driverless transit system uses an asphalt infrastructure, with small passive magnets added every 2 meters to allow automated driving. Thanks to the advancing technology, the construction will only take five years to finish. The system is expected to solve the traffic problems in Hsinchu effectively.
