Series of Events to Celebrate the Flower SeasonA series of events will take place in Jianshi Township to celebrate cherry blossom and peach blossom. Events will kick off on Jan. 25 with “The Legend of Two Queens—Cinsbu Ultramarathon”, followed by two flower viewing tours on January 31-February 1 and March 14-15. Meanwhile, the unveiling activity for “Lalu Poetry Road” will take place on January 31, Sunday. Hsinchu County invites people all around Taiwan to Jianshi Township to these events.
January 31st marks the 3rd annual “Cinsbu Ultramarathon”. The organizer named the event “The Legend of Two Queens”, in contrast to last year’s all-too-masculine “The Sovereign Descends the World”, to emphasize the feminine charm of women this year. It was inspired by two ladies, Jia-Li Liang working in technology industry, and Jia-Yin Ku from Mekarang Tribe at Jianshi Township. The two ladies have extensive experience in ultramarathon and the organizer hopes this will encourage more female runners to get out and pursue their own life experiences.
Cinsbu Ultramarathon has three different categories: 100 km, 54 km and 13 km. Taking place in the mountain at an altitude of 1,700 meters, the race is one of the toughest marathon races both in Taiwan and abroad. It attracts local and international elite runners each year. 2400 participants have already enrolled for the race.
The second main activity is flower viewing tours. The first tour “The Yufong Village Tribe Tour with Flower Blossom Viewing at Night” takes place on January 31-February 1. The itinerary includes Mrqwang Tayah Waterfall and Eagle River Trail. The second tour “Tunan(Xiuluan) Tribe Tour with Flower Blossom Viewing at Night” includes scenic spots like Kong River, battleship rock, etc. People will be travelling with shuttle bus and a tour guide will accompany tourists the whole trip. During the flower viewing at night, participants will enjoy Taiya aboriginal cuisine, performances, and have hands-on experience in bamboo DIY crafts and millet pounding. The third is the unveiling activity for “2015 Lalu Poetry Road”. Made by drift woods, 17 tablets are placed out along the road. The biggest one is with the inscription “ 那羅詩路(Lalu Poetry Road)” while the second biggest one, with the inscription from the Village Chief Yun, was carved with “起頭文碑(the wooden tablet marking the beginning of the poetry road)”. Together with other 15 monuments along the road, they form a “poetry road” and create a romantic atmosphere strolling along the road.
