“One small step for NTU is a giant leap for the future higher education in Hsinchu!” Chang Ching-Ray, the Vice President for Administration at NTU, along with several school members, attended the launch ceremony for the Program Office and Green Park at NTU Chubei campus on January 15. During the ceremony, NTU announced that the application for admission to the Professional Master's Program in Business Administration(PMBA) will start in February and the program will start in June. The school will also build a replica of the NTU gate for the new campus by the end of 2015.
A 20-by-700-meter park, on the side of Zhuangjing N. Road, is located on the campus. Its construction cost NTU 6.6 million and took nearly five months, finished at the end of August. This morning, NTU held the open ceremony for the park when it is opened to the public for the first time. Chang Ching-Ray, the Vice President for Administration at NTU, accompanied by several professors, also promoted the coming PMBA program. Participating guests from the County Government included: Secretary-general Yang Wen-Ke, confidential secretary Ho Tsai-chun, General Development Department director Chen Kuan-Yi, the special assistant of vice director-general of cantonal legislature Hsu Yu-hsin, the assistant of the member of the Legislative Yuan Hsu Hsin ying, the chief secretary of Chubei City Office Chang Chin-Ho.
The vice president said that the application for the admission to the PMBA program will be opened from February 25th to May 9th and the oral exam will take place on April 10th. The results will be release on May 14th while the school starts on June 28. The program is expected to enroll 48 students. As the number of students gradually increases, new buildings and facilities will be constructed. A replica of the NTU gate will also be built on the campus by the end of the year to reflect the school’s goal of education.
Director Lia Hsien-Hsing indicated that if everything goes well, the school, with the establishment of Taiwan Knowledge Economy Flagship Park and the third-phase development of science park, will offer another new program “Professional Master's Program in Business Management” next year. The classroom will also be in the Pei-Tsen Hall.
Acting on behalf of Magistrate Chiu, the Secretary-general Yang Wen-Ke, mincing no words, said that Magistrate Chiu has done everything he could for NTU. For the past many years, however, the high expectations from residents towards the establishment of the Chubei Campus have been turned into disappointment. Even the council disapproved the way NTU handled it. Now, NTU is determined to bring its academic experience to Chupei Campus. With the help of NTU, NTHU, and NCTU, Hsinchu hopes to become a bellwether of Taiwan’s economy.
