
To celebrate the arrival of 2025, Hsinchu County Government held a flag raising ceremony today (Jan. 1) in the square in front of the Hsinchu County Government building. Magistrate Yang Wen-ke led County Government and affiliated agencies’ staff, Legislative Yuan members, the Hsinchu County Council Speaker, and County Councilors, as well as guests from all walks of life and many local residents. With a chorus of four members from the Hngyang Na Atayal choir and two children acting as lead singers performing the national anthem and the national flag anthem, the flag-raising ceremony was conducted with great solemnity.
The magistrate mentioned how Taiwan took the championship at the WBSC Premier12 2024 baseball competition, and how all the passion and camaraderie along the way has moved all of us. He stated that so long as we can all work together, the country’s prospects are boundless. Today is the first day of 2025, and also the magistrate’s seventh time officiating at the New Year’s Day Flag-Raising Ceremony since he assumed the office. With the County Council’s support, the budget allocation for Hsinchu County has been continuously increased over the past six years, from NT$28.6 billion when he first took office to NT$41.1 billion this year. This shows how the County Government team has continued giving it their all, moving forward, to create three decades of prosperity for Hsinchu County.
Magistrate Yang stated that the County Government’s concrete blueprint includes the Five Arrows, the Ten Transportation Construction Projects, inclusive & unique parks, the Green Coastal Scenery Tourism Project, and other infrastructure projects, all of which are proceeding according to their phased plans. The County Government is also investing resources into smart governance, and achieving the core goal to “Take Care of Everyone, At Every Age”. The County Government team will continue efforts to make Hsinchu County the happiest, most livable Tech Capital in Taiwan. Magistrate Yang also wished everyone health, happiness, fulfillment, and wished the ROC a prosperous future.
The 2025 new year flag-raising ceremony began with powerful war drum beats, played by the 584th Armored Brigade Dengbu War Drum Troupe. They demonstrated the military’s solid training, diversity, and passion. The next performance was presented by the St. Teresa Young Chamber Ensemble, a group of young music lovers. With both character and confidence enhanced by music, these youth aimed to usher in the new year with pleasant, moving music for everyone. The last performance was glamorous, lively belly dancing and Indian Bollywood dancing presented by Modeng Dance Studio, which has deep roots in Zhubei City. All the performances were full of verve.
Next, the national flag was carried by Chinese Marine Veteran Corps Association in Hsinchu County into the ceremony site. Four members of the Hngyang Na Atayal choir and two children were specially invited to act as lead singers for the singing of the national anthem and national flag anthem. Members of the public followed along with the beautiful songs, helping bring the solemn flag-raising ceremony to a close and symbolizing the formal beginning of a new year!
Magistrate Yang awarded medals of appreciation to all co-organizers at the ceremony, including Chinese Marine Veteran Corps Association in Hsinchu County, Hsinchu County 18-Form Tai Chi Qigong Exercise Promotion Association, the 584th Armored Brigade Dengbu Drum Troupe, the St. Teresa Young Chamber Ensemble, Modeng Dance Studio, and the National Armed Forces Northern Region Recruitment Center Hsinchu Station for their support and assistance for the event.
There were many advocacy stands set up onsite, as well as two 2025 photography backdrop boards and kids play areas. Delicately-made red envelopes printed with creative calligraphy were also distributed to promote the event. These helped attract attendees of all ages to join in the flag-raising ceremony, and helped give all who participated great memories of the event.
