The First Hsinchu Technology Innovation Forum Debuts Building a Cross-Disciplinary Cooperation Platform with Local Talent

Hsinchu is an important center for the global tech industry, as well as an invaluable hub for semiconductor and information and communication industries. The Hsinchu Technology Innovation Forum, established by the Photonics Industry & Technology Development Association (PIDA), took place at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University today (8/24). Experts from various industries, government, academia, and research sectors attended the forum. Hsinchu County Magistrate Yang Wen-ke was also in attendance and signed a memorandum of cooperation in the hopes of promoting talents and increasing information exchange. The forum is to become a regular event.

This year’s Hsinchu Technology Innovation Forum is being held at the international conference hall of the Microelectronics and Information Research Center of Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. University President Lin Chi-Hung, Hsinchu County magistrate Yang Wen-ke, PIDA Chairman Tai Zhong-he, Hsinchu Science Park Director-General Wayne Wang, Minghsin University of Science and Technology President Liu Kuo-wei, National Science and Technology Council Next Generation Semiconductor R&D Program convener Hsu Shuo-Hung, Taiwan Photonics Society  Vice President Horng Ray-Hua, and H.P.B Optoelectronics Chairman Xu Xuan-yue were in attendance and addressed participants.

Hsinchu County Magistrate Yang Wen-ke stated that Hsinchu County, along with Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and PIDA, invited optoelectronics-related associations, research groups, and companies to endorse the Hsinchu Technology and Innovation Forum, which he believes is “an important milestone in technology.” The force behind technological research and development, including semiconductors, information and communication, etc., is concentrated in Hsinchu. The creation of this forum is conducive to the exchange of talents, information, as well as international marketing and business exhibitions, which will be of great significance to the future of technology development in Hsinchu. Yang expects the forum to become a regular event in the future.

Yang Ming Chiao Tug University President Lin Chi-Hung said in his speech that the forum has been held in the northern, central, and southern regions of Taiwan for some time, to promote exchanges between talents. He believes that through the forum, more directions for cooperation will develop. In addition to Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, industries, government, academia, and the research sectors now have more partners to collaborate with and to inject greater energy into the future of technology.

The theme for this year’s Hsinchu Technology Innovation Forum is compound semiconductors, biomedicine, space, automotive technology. Experts in the above fields will give speeches or hold panel discussion to promote cross-industry dialogue, and create a platform for forward-looking technology forums in the Hsinchu region. Additionally, in order to implement talent cultivation, the Hsinchu Technology Innovation Forum will hold a Compound Semiconductor Industry Panel, Hsinchu edition the next day (8/25). National Taiwan University Distinguished Professor and GaN System’s Huang JianJang, as well as Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Professorial Chair and Applied Material’s Guo Hao-zhong will speak on the development trends of InP, GaN, SiC and other related technologies, in order for the industry to gain an application of high frequency, high power, and wide energy gap business opportunities.

PIDA CEO Dr. Luo Huai-jia stated that this forum is the first high-tech interdisciplinary exchange platform in the Hsinchu region, which will increase dialogue between industry, government, academia and the research sector, achieve cross-industry cooperation while highlighting the characteristics of the semiconductor, information, communication, and AI industries in the Hsinchu region. The following day, the forum will also partner with the office of National Science and Technology Council’s Next Generation Semiconductor R&D Program to hold a talent training course, which will fulfill industry talent needs and enhance industry competitiveness. The collaboration in the forum and co-development of the course is PIDA’s advantage and contribution in the development of the technology industry, and we look forward to everyone’s support.
