Neiwan improvement projects: County Magistrate Yang announces the pre-opening of Neiwan Ginger Lily Park

The Neiwan Scenic Area in Hengshan Township, Hsinchu County is one of the most popular scenic spots in the county. The more than 1.6 million visitors every year drive local tourism and economic development. The Hsinchu County Government aims to integrate the resources of tourist attractions, improve the quality of facilities, and promote the diversified development of tourism in Neiwan. On February 8, Hsinchu County Magistrate Yang Wen-ke, Director You Zhi-xiang of the Transportation and Tourism Department, and others conducted an inspection tour of the improvement projects in Neiwan Ginger Lily Park and the facilities around the public parking in Neiwan Old Street in Hengshan Township. At the same time, County Magistrate Yang also announced today the pre-opening of the Neiwan Ginger Lily Park.
County Magistrate Yang Wen-ke said that Neiwan is the hometown of cherry blossoms. In addition to planting ginger lilies, existing Taiwan cherry and plum blossoms in Ginger Lily Park have been preserved. The Chinese New Year coincides with the flowering season of cherry blossoms and plum blossoms, dotting the mountains with a beautiful contrast of red and white blooms. This year, the public is restricted in their overseas travel due to the pandemic, which may result in more domestic tourists than in previous years. To provide tourists with a restful visit to the park to enjoy the cherry blossoms after visiting the Neiwan business district, the Ginger Lily Park was pre-opened before Chinese New Year, adding a new attraction and recreational spaces to the Neiwan business circle.
Director You of the Transportation and Tourism Department stated that the county government has sought support from the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications' Experience Tourism-- Mid-range Projects for Local Tourism Environment Construction Plan for the Neiwan Ginger Lily Park and Neiwan Old Street Public Parking Facility Improvement Project to improve the quality of their infrastructure, trails and tourism environment. The construction scope of this project includes the Neiwan Ginger Lily Park and the embankment trail. The total project cost is NT$15 million. Construction was set to begin on November 17, 2020, and the construction period is 150 calendar days. Among the construction projects, because the foundation of Ginger Lily Park is located at the opening of tap water intake, in addition to complying with the local surrounding ecology when planting the ginger lilies, concrete pipes were also used to construct childlike landscapes and facilities to provide the public with a high-quality space for family recreation.
